Bibliometric analysis of 'hepatitis e' literature

Abstract

This Research effort is an endeavour to measure and analyse the literature output on “Hepatitis E”  covered in primary literature indexing database “Web of Knowledge”. The study focus on research output, prolific journals, author, countries, institutions and put special focus on Citation per Paper (CPP) and Relative Citation Index (RCI) besides gauging h-index. The study measured and analysed research papers on “Hepatitis E” for a specific time frame from 1999-2011. Research papers were selected from Web of Knowledge (Thomson Reuters) using different searching techniques. The data as such retrieved was analysed and tabulated in ordered manner to showcase the findings in tune with the set objectives. The study found that the most productive year of publication output was 2011 (154) and least count of articles were rolled out in 2000 (44). A total of 19639 citations were received by these articles. Among them 126 (12%) papers did not receive any citation. The study in itself is a unique attempt to apply bibliometric parameters to analyse “Hepatitis E” research scenario. The work will be helpful in showcasing R & D efforts and priorities for “Hepatitis E” research taking place across the globe.
