Semantic web research in India: A scientometric study of 2007-16.

Abstract


The paper examines 2892 Indian publications on semantic web research, as covered in scopus database during 2007-16 using various quantitative and qualitative parameters. India experiences an annual average growth rate of 26.37% and qualitative citation impact averaged to 3.83 citations per paper. India’s share of international collaborative papers (ICP) was 13.52% which decreased from 15.08% to 12.89% between 2007-11 and 2012-16. The top 10 most productive countries individually contributed global share from 3.02% to 18.23%, with largest global publication share coming from the USA (18.23%), followedby China (14.66%), etc. Together, the 10 most productive countries accounted for 75.82% share of global publications. The top 10 most productive research organizations and authors collectively contributed 24.97% and 7.09% as their global publication share and 23.91% and 7.51% respectively as their global citation share during study. The top 10 journals contributed 19.29% share of the total Indian semantic web publication output.
